Born: 1881, Solna, Stockholm, Sweden. Died: 1942, Goteborg, Sweden.

career:

Ethnologist-zoologist, late Director of the Goteborg Ethnographical Museum. He travelled in Madagascar (1906/07 and 1911/12), and in Celebes (see below).¹

Several plants were named after him.

Celebes: Djiko, on the SE. side of the peninsula (March 9), Goeroepahi (May 9-10), Motongkad (May 11-June 8), Goeroepahi (June 9-July 24), starting for Modajag (July 25), stay at Danau Lake (Aug. 23-26); journey by motorboat along the N. coast (Aug. 27-Sept. 13), touching at Bolaäng, Poigar, Paleleh, Bwool (= Boeol), etc.; Amoerang (Oct. 21-24); Manado and Tondano Lake (Oct. 28-Nov. 1); Danau Lake (Dec. 3-18); Goeroepahi (Dec. 21, 1917-Apr. 18, 1918); departing from Djiko (Apr. 19) to the W. coast of Centr. In Centr. Celebes he collected also at Ensa and Kolaka; in the East Peninsula at: Kalibambang, Pinapoean (8-900 m alt.), and Otampaitoenoe.
