Botanist who took his Ph. Dr’s degree in 1893 at Bonn; he made a voyage to the tropics in 1895/96, visiting Ceylon, Borneo, Singapore, and Java. He stayed in Java from July 1895-May 1896, working for some time in the Foreigners’ Laboratory at Buitenzorg on the study and culture of different Fungi.1 Later he was for a longer sojourn in Ceylon, making comparative studies with Java.2 Professor of Botany at Berlin University. He is the author of some books,3 and of papers on Fungi. |
