Was educated at Sto Tomas University, Manila; pharmacist at Zamboanga (1881), Cavite (1882) and Botica de Minonda (1883-96); Professor of Plant Histolog at Sto Tomas University, 1887-1935; 1916-33 Botanist (1926-33 Chief) of the Bureau of Science, Manila, appointed for the purpose of undertaking a survey of medicinal plants of the Philippine Archipelago.1 Ilex guerreroii Merr. was named after him. |

Dr Leon Guerrero was the owner of a herbarium, for the greater part collected by himself, which in 1903 was preserved in the College of San Jose at Manila, and was inaccessible. He collected a little in the B.S. (cf. Bureau of Science, Manila) and in the F.B. (cf. Forestry Bureau, Manila) series, Herb.
