career:

Was attached to the Sarawak Forest Department from its start in 1921, as Forest Ranger, special grade, in charge of the administration of Kuching, Lundu and Sadong forest districts. By the time he had retired in 1954 he had won a M.B.E. and been promoted to the senior staff.¹
