In the early sixties employed by the firm of Veitch & Co., later in the Orchids Dept of Messrs Hugh Low and Co.’s Nurseries. According to Backer he travelled in Brazil and America too and was an undaunted and successful collector. Vanda coerulescens Griff. var. boxallii Rchb.f. was named after him. We do not know his relation to Richard Boxall (see there), he may even be identical with the latter. |
