Botanist, educated at Cornell University (B.S. 1928; M.S. 1930), and Harvard University (M.S. 1931; Ph.D. 1933); from 1935 to the present on the staff of the Botany Dept, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, U.S.A.; from 1959-1962 National Science Foundation Fellow, studying Fagaceae and Myricaceae especially in SE. Asia. He is usually assisted by his wife, L.B. Abbe (see there). |

[GH], Thai Forest Dept [BKF], Univ. of Minnesota [MIN]; woods to the Yale Record Collection, and the Nat. Mus. Washington, D.C. [US]. In the Malay Peninsula about 100 nos were collected with Kadim bin Tassim. |
