Born: 1902, Palembang, Sumatra.

 

career:

‘Boscharchitect’ of the D.E. Indian Forest Service, who was stationed at Palembang in 1920, later especially working under Thorenaar (see there). In June 1925 he was transferred to Buitenzorg, in May 1927 to Samarinda (later Kota Baroe, both in E. Borneo), in November 1928 to Tembilahan (Indragiri, Sumatra). In September 1930 he was stationed at Tandjong Pinang (Riouw), instructed to make a description of the mangrove forests; May 1932 found him at Tembilahan once more, and July 1933 he was transferred to Bandjermasin (SE. Borneo); since October 1938 on the subordinate staff of the Forest Research Institute at Buitenzorg. In 1939 he accompanied the Forest Officer L.J. van Dijk (see there) on a New Guinea tour; in 1948 stationed at Sampit, S. Borneo.

Author of some sylvicultural papers in ‘Het Bosch’, and of typed reports on Palembang and NE. Borneo.

Herb. For. Res. Inst. Buitenzorg [BZF], and in Herb. Bog. [BO]. Some of his Palembang plants were numbered in the E. series (cf. sub Endert), the greater part in the T. series (cf. sub Thorenaar).
